We are Yale students and alumni who were members of Indigo Blue, the center for Buddhist life at Yale.

Indigo Blue was a community whose many events included everything from nightly meditation in Battell Chapel (Stillness & Light) to weekly discussions over Miya’s sushi to meditation instruction to trips to Buddhist sites off campus.  Indigo Blue let us come and go without hindrance. We enjoyed each other’s fellowship and appreciated each other’s service.

We were saddened to hear of the recent decision of the University to terminate its relationship with Indigo Blue and its Buddhist chaplain.  We press the university administration and the Chaplain’s Office to respect our experience with Indigo Blue, to recognize the importance of our traditions, and to cooperate with us to rebuild a safe and welcoming Buddhist community at Yale in a timely manner.
